As a commissioner, I would hold focus groups with agricultural, residential and industrial stakeholders to identify and determine levels of need. I would recommend employing a plan that incorporates a balanced interest of the community stakeholders (residents, businesses and the agricultural community) that yields win-win results. My engagement in prior projects as well as some national “best practices” can be applied in Delaware County.

Our county is uniquely positioned to draw on the strengths of its entire community and support strategic and sustainable growth, thus creating growth opportunities for the agricultural community, residents and industrial needs. Sound fiscal policies and procedures should be implemented and routinely evaluated because in any growth plan, it is important to have a return on equity and investment that is beneficial to more than one sector.
Review the current comprehensive assessment of the Delaware County transit system, meet with the Delaware Area Transit Board, key leadership and stakeholders to identify the priority needs and opportunities for enhancements and expansion that support and reflect the County’s growth. Review the current collaborations and grant funding streams that support the transportation system to include grants from the Federal, state, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) and Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA).

I would advocate for the county commissioners to support the transit system while exercising safe and sound fiscal controls. It is important that the County be a contributing partner to the transit system. .

I will also work with the current funders to identify the possibility of increased funding (when necessary). I will work with the stakeholders to implement a plan and a budget that is financially sound.

It is very important to have a quality transit system.
1. Strategic economic development governed by implementing sound financial management resulting in secure safety nets for small businesses, families and seniors. It is the proper mix of businesses with a tax base that supports the County, creates jobs, links transportation and agriculture. 2. Job creation benefiting economic development in the county. Jobs with livable wages are necessary to drive shared and sustainable economic growth. The void of livable wages, health benefits and other tangible economic opportunities needed workers lead to economic instability, a declining tax base, pockets of poverty and a reduced quality of life. 3. Sustainable development, requiring us to be good environmental stewards. It is imperative that we invest in development that when possible includes the use of recycled materials or renewable resources, and employs processes that allow us to preserve our ecosystem. We need to meet the needs of the present without compromising future generations
