Every year brings new priorities to our county. This year was a year of COVID-19, a macroburst, and a fire in our old courthouse. We have healthy reserves in our budget and will continue to offer services to our county. Our county works with our neighboring counties to find solutions to regional issues such as COVID, roads and bridges, landfills, funding, rural broadband, affordable housing, childcare, economic development, technology, education, and land use. We have boards that our county residents are members of that help with these areas. Engaging our citizens on these boards shape our plans. They understand our communities needs and are a vital part of this county.
Factors to consider when budgeting for the county are the county's current financial situation, available funds, revenue streams, county goals and outlook for the county. Property tax and sales and use tax are economic factors in our county budget. The budgeting process is a very crucial part of this entity.
