To serve all corners of Park County. To allow citizens to utilize their private property as they choose, including camping, providing no harm is done to others. By establishing overlay zoning in the more rural areas where camping is occurring, plus recognizing responsible sanitation practices. Support the enforcement of sanitation, zoning, code and ordinance complaints that are submitted to the county. There is a lack of enforcement of rubbish and noise ordinance violations, negatively impacting citizens’ quality of life. To work with Colorado Parks and Wildlife to add a fee to the entrance fees to Eleven Mile and Spinney Mountain Reservoirs for the maintenance of County Road 90, CR 92 and CR 23. Over 400,000 people visit these two state parks annually and the traffic, trucks pulling campers and boat trailers damage the roads impacting the citizens who live on these roads. It is only right, those who utilize these roads for recreation help pay for the upkeep.
As a supporter of the limited function of government, the factors that guide financial/ budgeting decisions are public safety, infrastructure and establishing a regulatory structure that protects the citizens’ quality of life. If the private sector or a public/private partnership can perform a task or service more efficiently, find a way to make that change. Business closures have reduced State and County tax receipts, citizens unemployment may hinder payment of property taxes, will both strain the budget. Great care will be used to budget the priorities of limited government. I will work with departments to stretch their budgets. The sheriff department to find ways to reduce the cost of running the jail. I will support Public Works to set priorities, find efficiencies in road and equipment maintenance. Budgeting for zoning, code and ordinance enforcement, working with the sheriff, county attorney and new district attorney to cure violations to improve the citizens’ quality of life.
