Housing affordability. I support existing programs like Homes Fund and Housing Solutions. I support the reinvigoration of the Regional Housing Authority. It will provide more paths to affordability. I will make sure that our new land use code will encourage the kind of density required for affordability to be achieved. My vision is to work to bridge the affordability wage gap, through better jobs spurred by economic development. I believe there are ways to create affordable and attainable housing for first time homebuyers, and I want to be a part of that. My experience with Bayfield’s planning commission has helped me understand that there needs to be a better relationship between, developers, landowners, and government. Infrastructure, county roads and bridges need to stay maintained. I helped lead Bayfield’s water plant expansion at no additional cost to town residents. I helped secure a 1 million dollar grant for a water line replacement project. As Commissioner, I will seek grants, strategic partnerships, and always look out for La Plata’s best interests. Quality jobs, we need both larger employers with well-paying jobs, as well as infrastructure that serves our many entrepreneurs cost-effectively. I know the hard work that goes into attracting and retaining businesses. I am committed to pursuing more opportunities for our community and ensuring that future growth is equitable and benefits all.

It comes from my experience as a small business owner and is a big part of my approach as a public servant. As the Mayor of Bayfield and trustee, I have kept a balanced budget over my 6 years tenure. As County Commissioner, you can count on me to govern within our means and to keep our expenses and revenue balanced.
