My top priorities include housing, education and economic development. To address these issues I feel it is important to bring the community voice together including those whose need is strongest to develop solutions for the people who live and work in Grand County. This will be done by creating panels of community members tasked with each of these priorities. Panels combined of those who are experiencing these issues paired with those that have the professional knowledge will provide the direction that is essential to create long lasting impact and positive change in our community. I want to hear from those who are facing housing insecurity, concerned about education, worry about how their business will survive COVID-19, and what they feel is the change required to address these issues. I will open the door between county government and the community to create real long lasting solutions to the barriers in our community so that we all may rise together.
With every financial and budgeting decision, the question will be asked, how will this affect the people who work and live in Grand County. Will this action increase funding for our schools, our human services, the vulnerable populations and make housing more accessible? Will this decision bring jobs and opportunity to our community? This is not the time for trickle down economics, it is time to invest in our working class through economic development and housing programs. Only then will we see the community flourish to meet its potential and grow in the direction that we wish. It is my commitment to guide every decision based on what is best to create a healthy thriving community and bring the voice of the working community to county leadership.
