1. Good government that serves its citizens: transparency; accessibility, responsiveness, reliability and customer service; integrity; fiscal responsibility. 2. Solutions for workforce issues: affordable housing choices, access to healthcare for all, childcare access and availability, multi-modal transportation, and smart growth land-use policies. 3. Sustainable economy: I believe every Eagle County resident should be able to make a sustainable livelihood in our community. I'm working hard to make our economy strong and resilient through partnerships with businesses and strengthening broadband, transportation, and infrastructure. 4. Protecting our environment: reducing greenhouse gases, safeguarding water, protecting wildlife, and conserving open space. 5. Making Eagle County a great place for all: seniors, working families, visitors. My guiding stars are Collaboration, Innovation, and Civility!
We are in a tenuous time right now, with unknown long-term impacts from COVID-19. We will continue to budget conservatively, and because that is our practice we are able to use our healthy reserves as needed to cushion us in a downturn. We have instituted a hiring freeze and created an early retirement program. A balanced budget centered around our strategic priorities is essential. We work with our municipal and business partners to forecast sales and property tax revenues, and develop expenditure budgets focused on basic needs and services, and community priorities. Developing efficiencies in services based on partnerships and innovation allows us to use County taxpayer money wisely. Every expenditure is visible to the public through our OpenBook financial record system. I will continue to safeguard County resources through financial and budgeting decisions.
