Archuleta County needs full-time commissioners who will commit to serving the needs of county residents. I will work with staff to clearly present the financial state of our county to the public, present a comprehensive road repair plan that utilizes materials and techniques that work for our area, use technology to involve the public in decisions that impact them, and ensure our county has a strategic growth plan that can be followed to guide us into the future.
As a County commissioner, I will honor the history and heritage of our unique area, advocate for affordable housing, support our business owners, be a good steward of our natural resources, protect our property rights while prioritizing smart and strategic growth, LISTEN to residents and voters, communicate decisions being made, and ensure our tax dollars are being spent wisely and prudently. I will make serving the county my FULL TIME JOB and will EARN the salary being paid.
I have 27 years of experience working with county residents and business of all income levels and sizes and I understand the diverse needs of our community. Weighing the needs of the county as a whole, listening to our hard-working staff who are unique experts in their departments, and gathering public input will guide me when making county financial decisions.
Through years of previous board experience I have training in strategic and financial planning, budgeting, and business plans. I was a single mother for over ten years and know the importance of fiscal prudence and wise budgeting. As a Systems Engineer I am a strategic planner: I look at spending from multiple angles, do intensive research on the subject, gather input from others, look for alternate solutions, and put together comprehensive plans that include short-term and long-term impacts of a decision.
You can count on Natalie Carpenter to spend our tax dollars wisely and prudently.
Life resident,Fair board 4 yr, Retired Captain volunteer fire dept,Board of director for fire dist 8 yr,Pension director 8 yr, School Dist accountability committee 1 yr, Town planning director 4 yr, Currently Archuleta County commissioner for dist 2. Asking to serve the county 4 more years dist 2.
My priority will always be the budget by keeping it balanced for a good audit. Also, another priority is to maintain a strong focus on the county's capital facilities needs and to utilize the resources that are available to the Commissioners to meet the needs of our county - as long as we can do so while staying within the budget. Also to do the best to replenish the strategic reserves as we will need to use some to build the court house.
The main factor will be the economy. As we all know with COVID-19, the future will be very different and difficult to predict. We will have to make all of our expenditure decisions with strong scrutiny to see if we are able to get them done or not. We all may be headed for tough times and as a Commissioner, I will be very conservative in all of the decisions that will be brought before us.
