Priorities

*Homelessness- Currently I am working with Staff to study the feasibility of alternative housing solutions in our area. some thoughts are focusing on tiny homes, older motels, our some type of congregate living arrangements.

*Foster care- Homes for Hope is a living community that has two homes at present providing stable environments for kids that are removed from their homes. These homes are a safe, secure, temporary and family like environments while the child is assessed and proper accommodations can be found, whether that be return, kin location or a suitable foster family.

*transportation- prioritizing Adams County needs in all vectors of transportation, fighting for the funding we deserve and need .

*veterans services- working closely with the federal government to find new ways to partner services to our vets. I am also working on a one of a kind Veterans Memorial with our Veterans Advisory Committee for the Riverdale Regional Park.
There are many questions i ask when discussing the needs of our community, here are just a few.

Will it serve the majority of our constituents in a beneficial and meaningful way.

Can we meet the needs of our most vulnerable populations or will it create an unintended hardship?

Can we financially sustain any programs we implement?

Can we do it without raising taxes?

Can we find ways of rethinking our current programs to meet our ever changing needs?

Of course the financials are of great concern especially in light of our current situation. We have worked over the years to be prepared for this type of situation and have laid the groundwork for a successful recovery. Adams County is more prepared to take on a "New Normal" than any time in its history. I am grateful and proud to be a part of our community.

Recovery from a epidemic and challenging economic situations. Address this issue with people work or own business that were affected by the pandemic. Do not let the economy fix itself or assume that it would improve soon. Try to be ahead of the recovery not behind. Reduce taxes on small businesses in order to improve conditions. Investing in new business with less restrictions. This would result in attracting new residents to the county. Create more recreational areas including tennis courts and fitness clubs. I would address this after the economic recovery.
The factors that would guide me are financial. Due to a number of business going bankrupt or out of business due to the restrictions made by the current Adams County Commissioners. Also, the county should be prepared in the future and establish a reserve budget for the county. First need to recover from the poor economic conditions and rebuild business. Later I want to have a balanced budget and reduced taxes.
