It will be extremely difficult to recover from the Covid-19 fiscal mess. With most small businesses closed down or held to 25-50% operating capacity, overall tax revenues generated will be drastically reduced. The only way to recover from this responsibly is to eliminate spending for non-essential programs (commonly labeled as Pork Barrel spending). Revenues should rebound with the re-opening of our economy which needs to happen sooner rather than later. Estimates of the cost of corruption within the State of Illinois are over $500 million annually. Cut out the corruption. We need to focus on our core essentials: education, infrastructure and public safety. The 25+ new taxes should be enough. No more taxes!
NO!
Gerrymandering needs to end. The unfortunate thing about the word equitable is that it is different in everyone's eyes due to bias. If someone can come up with a truly fair way to lay out District boundaries, I'm all in favor of that and will support it fully.
Vote by mail should be limited to prevent the possibilities of corruption. We have early voting at all County buildings starting 9/24. Regular voting polls will be open Nov. 3. If someone is ill, incapacitated, out of town, requesting a vote by mail (like our previous absentee ballot system) can be used to ensure that citizens have the ability to cast their vote. Universal vote by mail is not necessary and I will not support it.
