How would you address Illinois' revenue shortfall, especially in light of COVID-19, including plans to raise more revenue and how to prioritize spending?

What is your position on vote by mail and would you support a universal vote by mail for Illinois?

What measures will you support to insure safe and clean water and air in the communities?

What measures will you support for equitable redistricting?

How do you propose that Illinois accept its responsibility to maintain and improve the quality of Illinois schools and take the burden off of local property taxes?

What actions do you feel the House can take to curtail gun violence?

Adopting the Fair Tax should help to shift the burden from the working class and make the overall tax burden more equitable. That being said, all spending needs to be scrutinized to make sure that priorities are placed on programs that benefit the underserved in our communities, and those so adversely affected by the COVID-19 shutdown. Unfortunately we''ve seen the money grab by bigger businesses for PPP loans/grants. Money that should have helped smaller businesses was once again doled out to those who seem to least need it.
Yes, I support vote by mail, and would support a universal vote by mail.
I am an advocate of the Clean Energy Jobs Act. Living on the Chain of Lakes, our environment is very important to me. I would like to see a bigger push for more hybrid/electric vehicles and less reliance on oil. I am also a proponent of the work being done to make sure that EtO emissions are closely monitored to remain in a safe level or stopped entirely.
I support an independent committee to redraw district maps.
The Evidence Based Funding model is a good start, but we need to shift the funding burden away from property taxes and provide fair and equitable funding for Illinois Schools. The Fair Tax graduated rate income tax will help if adopted in Illinois. I am also a strong proponent of ending corporate loopholes and subsidies. People should always come before profit.
I feel we need to take a hard look at policing policies and the need for earlier interventions before people turn to guns and crime for answers to their problems. We need to end the school to prison pipeline, we need better funding for mental health, and we need to close loopholes in current laws.
