As a Will County Board Member, I was a strong supporter of our hiring of a diversity coordinator for the county. In Will County, we also have begun a study that is looking into disparities in our hiring practices for contractors who do work for the county. I hope that my children and grandchildren can live in a world without labels. We still have a long way to go in our nation to ensure that we judge all people by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin. We are making progress and I believe this generation will leave the next with a more equitable world. We owe it to our community to treat each other better, to be kinder, and do more listening and less yelling.
I am a strong believer in what Illinois has done with vote by mail and early voting over the last decade. Vote by mail and early voting is essential at increasing voter participation. The rest of the nation should follow our lead.
We have come a long way in our country since Lyndon Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965. In Congress, I would be pleased to consider a clean bill with an updated voting rights act that will ensure that all people are treated equally.
We still have room for our nation to grow. Specifically, it is my hope on the local level that our elected officials work to improve access to identification so that we can institute voter ID laws that do not act as a suppressant to voter turnout. We need to have fair maps, e
We must have a better energy policy that considers our environment. In Will County, I am proud to be a Republican that is respected for protecting our environment. My comprehensive energy plan is meant to reduce our reliance on foreign oil, protect our environment, and unleash American innovation.
Our energy policy must take an aggressive and forward-looking approach. We must use all our nation’s resources and fully take advantage of our American ingenuity. Our policy must be comprehensive, knowing that we will not be completely changing from a fossil fuel-based economy overnight, but forward-thinking, knowing that we must move to more sustainable, renewable energy sources. No American energy plan is complete without the use of natural gas
Americans demand and deserve the best medical care in the world, and our healthcare system faces significant challenges with skyrocketing costs and high numbers of uninsured individuals. But that doesn’t mean we should tear down our entire healthcare system. Working people of the 3rd District should always be able to keep their employer-based and union-negotiated insurance. We can improve our current healthcare system with forward-thinking policies that lower costs and improve access while ensuring no one loses access to their doctors and all pre-existing conditions are covered.
Marie Newman’s “Medicare for All” plan is the failed plan of socialists Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that even many Democrats have rejected. It is n
I support the Justice in Policing Act, The Affordable Housing Act, The Moving Forward Act, DACA,DAPA, a expedient path to citizenship/DREAM Act, Voting Rights Act, Criminal Justice Reform as well as federal legislation designed to make education equitable in every zip code.
Yes, we must have it to stop ongoing voter suppression.
I support Joe Biden's newest green stimulus package plus much more. I believe we need to create a stimulus package that 1. Modernizes and detoxifies our transportation systems using green materials, green workforce training and clean energy 2. Addresses the primary cause of our carbon emissions: toxic buildings. We need to require using green materials, green technology and green energy. 3. Invests in green entrepreneurs and green technology with grants, loans and block grants 4. Requires private and public organizations and employers to meet standards by 2025, 2030 and 2035.
I will work to pass Medicare For All, develop a measured migration plan for M4A while making sure the ACA is in place until we can roll it out in a measured fashion.
