Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division, 1/8/2021

Term: 6 yearsSalary: $140,550 There are three requirements to become a judge in Ohio: a Juris Doctor degree, passage of the Ohio Bar and appointment or election. The Supreme Court of Ohio--the highest state court and the court of last resort--is responsible for the administration of Ohio's judicial branch. The impending retirement of Rosemary Grdina Gold opened up this seat. Colleen Ann Reali, of Westlake, won the Democratic Party primary in April. John E. Mayer was the sole candidate in the Republican Party primary, but his withdrawal in July allowed the party to select another candidate: James Cochran, a Bratenahl resident who unsuccessfully ran for a Common Pleas Court seat in 2016.Judicial candidates run on party (partisan) ballots in Ohio primaries but run without party affiliation (nonpartisan) in general elections.Judicial candidates are sent questionnaires by another nonpartisan website, JudicialVotesCount.org. If the candidates respond, voters can read their responses on that website or on Vote411.org.
