Wea Township Advisory Board {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

The township trustee is assisted by a Township Board whose members are elected to four year terms. Duties of the board include adopting the annual budget, serving as a board of finance and approving township contracts. In January of each year, the trustee presents to the board an annual report showing the receipts, expenditures, investments and debts of the township. The township board is also able to authorize a tax levy rate necessary to generate the amount the township board determines is needed for township functions.

Education BA Purdue University, Para Professional Penn State.
Experience in Leadership and Management Former Headstart Teacher, Postmaster, Consumer Affairs/Government Relations, Communication Specialist, Mgr. Learning Development/Diversity, Cordinator for WEE Delivery Program with U.S. National Commission on Libraries
I was born and raised in Wea Township where I lived on the family farm I now own and operate. I graduated from Wainwright and Purdue University. As a Head Start teacher I learned how to work with a diverse population. I retired from the USPS with thirty years of service, starting as a Letter Carrier, and progressing to Postmaster, Mgr. Consumer Affairs/Gov. Relations, Communication Specialist. My education and work experience, let me develop my skills and prepared me for a Board position. I am trained in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Page Maker. I have been responsible for operating budgets, managing training programs, arranging communication for employees. I have worked with teams and will bring this experience to the Board.
Wea Township is growing. This board will need to be responsible for more residences. While taxes are increasing, cost are rising. Tax payers will want and need more transparency in how this board makes decisions affecting OUR community. Feedback sessions and communications are vital. I would work with the trustee and other board members to set up a system of Staying Connected with the tax payers on meeting times, locations and information sharing. Input from this growing community will assist the board to make decision based on their needs and concerns. Developing community relations and receiving input from those we serve, will assist the board in the fulfillment of their duties.
COMMUNITY BUILDING: Establish volunteer groups, partnerships on mental health, budgeting, not just monetary assistance. Help people to help themselves by providing information on other local groups and services. COMMUNICATIONS: Create a web site where people can get info. A One Stop Shop before making a trip to the office. Post meeting times, budgets, future projects, hours, feedback, what forms are needed and information on how to use those form when applying, are some suggestions. COMMITMENT: Work with board and trustee to review budget and develop future needs based on community growth, monies, feedback. See funds are used responsibly. Follow rules, and laws of this office.

Experience in Leadership and Management Volunteer teacher at Saint Boniface Catholic Church. Coordinator at Wabash.
Qualities: I do my best to practice the virtues from Jesus Christ & the Catholic Church. And of course; My wonderful wife Jessica.

-Charity, truthfulness, & duty in practice are the reason why my campaign finance reports are right on my website. I will bring transparency & improved communication as part of my duty to serve Wea Township.

Experience:

-I have a 4 year Bachelor of Arts dual degree from Purdue University in Political Science & History.

-I have been a volunteer teacher for Saint Boniface Catholic Church.

-I have lead teams & motivated multiple people from different backgrounds & ages.

-I am respected by many in the county as a rideshare driver. Many of whom I serve are working class, single parents, or elderly.
I believe that the most important issues facing Wea Township is the need for a Township website, an evaluation of current expenditures, increased transparency & communication.

What sets me apart is that I see first hand every day the work and sweat the people of our Township endure. They deserve to have a public servant that is open & dutiful.

We can increase our openness by having a township website that is simple to use. We can further invest trust by having live stream recordings for our meetings, more board meetings, & verifiable data to show how hard our Township works as a whole.
I won't be taking steps. But actions.

The first action that I will do is ensuring that tax dollars are being properly used for the Township.

The second action that I will take is the creation of a township website that will allow citizens to coordinate & serve them as a proper channel between the board, trustee, fire department, or other services.

We must also increase the hours for the township Trustee office because most people in the township work in the morning.

I would also state that I will be looking into creating a safer township that coordinates with the sheriffs department to mitigate crime.
