Entrepreneur, business owner, real estate investor, Current Tippecanoe County Assessor
As Tippecanoe County Assessor, I work across the hall from the County Auditor's office. I worked in the assessor office from 2008-2012 and have been County Assessor since 2015. I have a detailed professional perspective on auditing assessment changes and corrections. I have experienced drastic technological and cultural changes in my time working the in the Tippecanoe County office building. The Assessors office interacts with: APC, auditor, treasurer, commissioners, council, IT, HR, Building Dept, etc. I closely monitor technological expenditures and have experience holding various vendors to their contractual obligations. We desperately need to audit duplicative consulting & software vendors and I know what rocks to look under.
In Indiana, the County auditor is the secretary/clerk of the County Commissioners and the County Council. Its important that the County's major policy and financial decisions are being documented and conveyed transparently. The auditor's office is responsible for accounts payable and receivable including County Payroll. The auditor's office intakes deductions, & calculates net assessments and tax rates for every district in Tippecanoe. The auditor acts as a check & balance, with oversight over assessment corrections and changes forms. The auditor maintains the digital plat book, a map of parcel lines to determine real estate ownership for various public purposes, including taxation. The auditor is the County's most senior fiscal officer.
As an easy convenience, I will provide online deduction filings. Too many core Auditor functions are being contracted out. I would ensure staff is maintaining the digital plat book without expensive consultants. I am committed to in-house budgeting, revenue forecasting and chairing budgeting meetings. I would terminate the out-of-county contractors currently running our financial planning processes and make sure that the auditors staff is skilled in generating and analyzing Tippecanoe's financial data. I will audit, report and reduce wasteful, duplicative tech spending and dispute ineffective contracting and questionable invoices. The solution to shrinking budgets from SB1 is to consolidate technology and staff to deliver more with less.

Current county auditor, former county treasurer
I am a life-long resident of Tippecanoe County and graduate of Purdue University with a degree in accounting. I am currently fulfilling the duties of county auditor since I was elected in 2022 while finishing two terms as county treasurer. Prior to that, I was elected and served as auditor from 2007-2014. In 2024 I became a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) through the Association of Government Accountants. I have experience operating a small family business and working for a local CPA firm. My volunteerism includes organizations such as United Way, Habitat for Humanity, and Community Cancer Network. I'm proud to live, work, and serve county government and this community.
The auditor serves as chief financial officer of county government. The office is responsible for financial reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, and property tax administration. These are critical functions to county operations as well as to the other local units of government. We process thousands of property tax deductions and deed transfers annually and distribute millions of dollars in property and income taxes to cities, towns, schools, libraries, townships, etc. Other duties include serving as recording secretary to the county executive (commissioners) and fiscal (council) bodies and maintenance of the county's digitized parcel layer.
Over the years we have updated technology and streamlined many functions of the office. This has allowed us to stay conservative in size with a staff of only 11 employees to carry out all the duties previously mentioned. Nearly all records and books have been scanned and made available online. We continually look for ways to improve efficiency while also safeguarding taxpayer dollars. Implementation of the 2025 tax reform will be a primary focus in the next 4-5 years, with a shift from property tax reliance to income tax. Transparency and cooperation will be key to assisting local leaders in the transition. I will continue to serve Tippecanoe County taxpayers professionally and respectfully.
