The township trustee is assisted by a Township Board whose members are elected to four year terms. Duties of the board include adopting the annual budget, serving as a board of finance and approving township contracts. In January of each year, the trustee presents to the board an annual report showing the receipts, expenditures, investments and debts of the township. The township board is also able to authorize a tax levy rate necessary to generate the amount the township board determines is needed for township functions.

Retired,I have no time constraints and will be an active accessible board member. I feel I am the ideal candidate for Wabash Township Board.
Unbridled development in the unicorportaed parts of townships is a major issue. It is causing an unplanned explosion in the need for additional services with no new means to pay for them. The “Ratables Chase”, is the dog chasing its own tail. Uncontrolled development leads to increased need for fire and first responder services. There is no net increase in revenue. Furthermore, homestead taxes continue to outpace inflation by three-fold, putting financial pressure on seniors and longtime residents.
I have good relationship with the party that controls statehouse and will work to try to get legislation passed to address this and other fiscal related issues.
State statue strictly outlines the criteria and mechanisms for providing relief services. The townships are obligated to provide services to those who qualify. The Board provides budgeting and makes adjustment in the budget as outlined by the state statue to provide the needed funds. The Trustee and their staff handle all the applications/ criteria reviews and the disbursement of funds. I will follow state statue and vote to move funds to the relief account when needed.
