I am the only candidate in any party with the following qualifications: - Master’s degree in accounting (Audit Track) - CPA license (Audit exam was highest score of 4 exams – 98) - Experience in auditing in the private sector (as both external and internal auditor) - 21st century audit experience (of any kind) - 21st century major accounting firm experience (Grant Thornton)

In addition, I have current NC budget experience as a Research Assistant to a budget chair.

Lastly – and most importantly – I recognize that the Auditor position is a lot like a judge’s position: you want someone who rules objectively based on the facts. There is no room for a personal agenda or making campaign promises on what cases you’ll take and how you’ll rule.
The Audit Department is primarily responsible for finding the objective truth of how taxpayer money is being used. Auditing correctly accomplishes this goal. To do this, the auditor must focus on the facts and not enact any personal agenda in the department.

Specifically for my administration, preventing fraud will be prioritized in addition to catching fraud. I will make sure that in every audit my team engages, we will work to promote good financial practices with those we audit so that fraud and waste do not occur in the future.
I currently work for a Representative and have built good relationships with many in the GA over my time here. I will have no problem going to them to request legislation should I see the need while going over the statutes. I have trained my whole career to follow audit standards, so adding the legal framework from statutes and policies will be an easy addition.
I want to re-emphasize how important it is to understand how to audit to do this job. It's such a niche skill that you don't get from business or law. Also, consulting is NOT audit. they have two very different mindsets, and pursue different goals. I am the only candidate with audit experience this century. I would not be running if I believed another candidate had the requisite background, as I do not like campaigning, and simply want to serve the people of North Carolina. Thank you for your consideration.
