Besides assuring the families of the deceased that we strive to ensure the dignity of all those who pass through the Coroner’s Office, we assist law enforcement in their investigations from the coroner to our crime lab abilities. We also look for trends in deaths which might show an increases or decreases in a specific drug use. We support the CDC in identifying deadly bacteria or illnesses that may become an epidemic. Our crime lab can identify the more potent drugs like fentanyl and notify the Public Health Department so the information can be made public thus hoping to reduce fatalities w
I have worked my entire career specific to death investigations. My qualifications of being more than an MD but trained if the field of Forensic Pathology, which allows me to actually perform autopsies to determine the cause of death. My law degree allows me to interface with the police agencies and prosecutor to assist in the prosecution of those who have violated the law, leading to the death of a human being. My Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is crucial to the operation of our office facilities and maintaining the budget and trust of public money. My time serving in the U. S. Army has taught me discipline that has made it possible for me to attain my goal of being your Coroner.
