The Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer of the county and is elected in partisan elections for a 4-year term. No person is eligible to serve as sheriff if that person has been convicted of a felony, whether or not their rights of citizenship have been restored. Duties of the Sheriff’s office include the operation of the jail, law enforcement, providing security for courts, serving criminal warrants and other writs and summonses, and transporting prisoners.

These are items we have already established beginning in 2018:
Body Cameras, Negotiations team, forensic computers for evidence phone and video support. Tasers for each officer, AR15's, Outer carrier armor keep within 5 year mfg warranty. Investigator crime scene van with the latest in technology. Sheriff's App to keep public informed. Citizens Academy each year 13 week intensive overview of our Office. Officers intrenched with our federal partners to fight drugs, DEA, Homeland Sec. Federal Marshall task force. 2 law enforcement boats all with the latest technology for the water and the largest lake in NC. We doubled the number of officers in Denver NC Charlie District new office by 24 to keep up with the rapid growth in Lincoln Co.
We need addition equipment to keep up with these changing times. Over time additional SROs, we not have 28, these schools are rapidly increasing. More detention Officers for jail expansion. Additional Detectives. Office space for Adam District. Offices Space for Baker District, Office Space for Denver district. Two of these a rental properties.
We have mental health 5 day a week in our jail for inmates. We have weekly Bible studies for men and women. There have been 94 Baptisms in the jail beginning in 2020. Inmates have to want to change their life to become productive citizens. Jesus is the surest way.
I have a long history. Ask one of the officers working today about their work here. We are full and have a waiting list for employment. Ask them about the leadership here today.
