I am a sixth generation Dare County resident. I have been a public servant since 1990. I have served on sixteen commissions and boards including the last seven as your Dare County Commissioner At-Large. I am for free and open conservative government and stewardship of taxpayer's money. I support open roads and inlets particularly Highway 12, Oregon Inlet and Hatteras Inlet. I am a licensed Fish Dealer and support commercial and sport fishing. I support beach nourishment and the creation of housing for local workers. As an independent business owner I want everyone to have the same opportunity that I have had with owning a business, home, raising a family and experiencing the Outer Banks way of life.
Stabilizing Highway 12 by continuing to work with NC Dept. of Transportation, State and Federal agencies.

Beach Nourishment and keeping our waterways open so our fishermen can continue to do as they have done for generations and remain essential to the economy.

We have got to think out of the box in stabilizing our beaches, ocean front and sound front for future generations.

I will continue working at the Saving Lives Taskforce to mitigate the effects of substance abuse, alcoholism and mental health.

Continue to support the efforts of the Housing Taskforce for our locals and essential workers - teachers, nurses, firemen, policemen, restaurant workers, construction workers, etc.
Over 25% of our annual budget goes to Dare County Schools. I will continue this funding. Our children are our greatest assets. We need to do everything we can to recruit the best teachers and make sure our facilities are the best they can be. I will continue to work alongside our school board as I have for the last seven years to insure they have the tools for success.
I will continuously support our billion dollar tourist industry which supports every job on the Outer Banks such as restaurants, private management, real estate companies, construction companies. resale and wholesale businesses. We need to get back to small residential beach values that made us so inviting to our visitors in the past. We can do this by being more user friendly, hospitable, give added value for the dollar and making the customer feel important during their whole vacation experience.
I have served on the Health and Human Services Board for seven years. I will put our team at the DHHS up against any other in the State. They go beyond the call of duty to help our residents navigate through the different social programs. They are always there, lending a helping hand and helping them in their time of need. We just completed a substance abuse and behavioral health assessment which is going to give us a road map to things we need to work on within the County over the next five years.
I am a hard worker, very open minded, 100% accessible and a firm believer in giving back to my community. My rewards come from getting things done that improves the lives of the people of my county. I will continue to work tirelessly to make Dare County the best it can be for all of its residents and visitors.
