Johnston County Board of Commissioners District 6

The 7-member Board sets the policy for the county, determining the strategic vision for the county, appoints a county manager, attorney and others to serve the county, adopts ordinances, including zoning, and establishes an annual budget, which includes setting the tax rate and calling bond referendums. Commissioners represent districts and are elected county-wide in even-numbered years; all serve staggered 4-year terms.

Position/philosophy statement There has been tremendous growth in Johnston County in recent years and the infrastructure has not seen equal growth. This is a fact that needs rewiew
The increase in population growth in recent years demands an adjustment in the infrastructure to include all citizens.
The social and racial inequality would improve if more minorities are visible on policy making boards. Communication with all citizens would be better.

In recent years, the systems has allowed marginalization of excellent personnel. Also, the restoration of buildings and facilities should be equal. This would reduce the desire to cross school boundary lines.

Considering the geographic size of the county, public transportation would improve access. Satellite locations would be a great impact to remote communities.
There are many policies that could improve the economy:

1). A local transportation system would greatly improve easy accessibility. 2). An addition paid holiday: Juneteenth. 3). Increased minimum wage. 4). Redistribution of infrastructure,

It is a known fact that race relation is one factor that is researched when new comers consider locations.
I see more and more roads being built and more tree are eliminated with no replacement. We need to be good stewards and reserve the earth resources. Mass transportation would be a project to consider.
