Position/philosophy statement Back to the Basics, Back to the Basics, Back to the Basics. Hire qualified teachers, pay them well, and provide them with necessary resources.
My background is slightly different than the norm. I have degrees in Business Administration, Leadership & Management as well as Procurement and Acquisitions. I have extensive experience in Human Resources, Facilities Management, and Financial planning. I believe that those skills are going to be crucial, during this period of growth, in which we are building new schools, and needing to hire new teachers and create expanding budgets.
This one is simple and answered in two parts. To make decisions that are in the best interest of our students and to clearly communicate those decisions to the Teachers and Parents.
Always keeping an open dialogue with our Teachers, Principles, and Superintendent. Communication up and down a chain of command is paramount. As for the second question, I am a huge proponant of professional development and continuing education. This is an area that should always be funded. To explain my philosophy; a CFO is talking to his CEO and says "but what if we train our people and then they leave us?" The CEO replies "What if we don't train them, and they stay?"
We have a few hurdles in this category. Teachers are overworked, under paid and have crowded classrooms. This leads to less time for lesson planning, tutoring, and grading work. All of these things make current teachers feel unappreciated and creates a burden on recruiting new teachers.
We need more facilities and we need more qualified teachers to run them. Our county has an ever expanding growth rate of students, and we need to build facilities to support this growth. We currently have temporary trailers at every High school to combat this issue, some of which have been in place over a decade. To get more teachers and TA's we need to partner with schools like ECU and Coastal Carolina Cummity College and entice teachers to come to our county.

Position/philosophy statement Improve race relations and reduce the property tax rate by 3.5 cents
Loyalty to the School Board Member that is chosen as chairman. If Joe Worrell is elected to the School Board in 2022 then I will pledge my loyalty to him at that time. I will never vote my own opinions.
Helping county commissioners reach their goals. Humbly accept our subordinate role to the Onslow County commissioners.
The ones that are dissatisfied will quit. The ones who are satisfied will stay. When lots of teachers quit the situation should be addressed. When the teachers stay I think we should all continue full steam ahead.
There are no problems in this area at this time.
The schools have way too much money. That problem needs to be addressed. Taxpayers should not be abused in this way.
