Having spent 13 months on this board in the early 2000's (having been appointed to fill a vacancy), I experienced the duties of the office and feel I can bring a lifetime of other government experience to this board.

With my over 40 years of elected or appointed office to positions in Nashua (including Mayor), I feel most qualified for the task.
With years of budgetary experience as a previous Alderman, Alderman at Large, Mayor, Airport and Fire Commissioner, I feel I am more than competent to successfully accomplish the duties of this Board.
I have eagerly served the residents of our great City in some fashion since my first appointment in 1966 to the Airport Authority. After a recent hiatus of several years, I am desirous of renewing my service and would greatly appreciate everyone's consideration.

I am running for re-election to the Nashua Board of Fire Commissioners because I believe that it is the best way that I can give back to the community and participate in setting the direction of a key City department.
In addition to having served four previous terms as a member of the Board of Fire Commissioner with nearly half of those terms as the Chairman. I have been both a call firefighter and EMT which gives me a better understanding of the issues faced by our first responder community. In addition to my previous service in this roll I am a retired Medical Device executive responsible for world-wide Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs and Manufacturing. I have managed Clinical Trials for an implantable cardiac device manufacturer and directed the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs activities for a major US medical device corporation producing life sustaining products used in cardiac bypass surgery. I also serve as a member of the Architectural Barrier-Free Access Design Committee of the Governor’s Council on Disabilities working to ensure that State facilities are designed and constructed so as to meet the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act.
As a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners I have worked to ensure the continued development and advancement of the department in terms of its apparatus, equipment and most of all its employees to make sure they are properly trained in order to safely and effectively handle the multitude of hazards that currently face our first responders

I am running for the position of Fire Commissioner because I believe that public service is a responsibility for members of a community. Nashua has been rated one of the best places to live repeatedly over the years, and I think its citizen participation is a big part of the reason for this. I was born and raised in Nashua and even though I lived in nearby Hollis with my wife and son, I spent many years as a teacher, and later as a business owner, here in the city. While living in Hollis, I was a member of the Hollis Fire Department which gives me a wealth of experience, which, now that I have retired and moved back to Nashua,m I would like to use to give back to the Nashua community.
My 42 years on the Hollis Fire Department has given me a wealth of experience in the practical changes to the fire service as well as a knowledge of the perspective of the men and women who are on the front lines. I was active in both EMS and fire rescue and trained and certified as an EMT instructor as well as certified firefighter. My interest in the Nashua Fire department reaches back to when I was a small boy hanging around the Crown Hill station. Later as a teacher and AV Specialist at Elm Street Junior High I helped set up the first cable TV channel to enable simultaneous live training to all stations in the city. Later when I was running my real estate business I was able to help the department find a site for the Lake Street station without displacing the Actor Singers. While serving as a state senator for District 12, which at that time included parts of Nashua, I co-sponsered legislation creating the Fire Academy.
I would be very interested in investigating the possibility of establishing an Explorer program for youth who would like to become firefighters.

I would appreciate your vote and the opportunity to serve you.
