Increase state funding for public schools and teacher salaries. Use excess funds from 2019 to fund capital improvement projects for poor public school districts. Restructure our regressive tax system to make it more fair to families earning un $75k and increase revenues for public schools. Hold the SCC and Bureau of Insurance accountable to citizens and force them to follow the ACA to bring down health insurance premiums and rein in health insurance monopolies.
We need to implement automatic voter registration in Virginia, implement early voting with remote poling places open 3 weeks before the election throughout the Commonwealth, and double down on election protection to prevent a cyber invasion of our electoral system in Virginia.
I support creating a non partisan redistricting commission in Virginia and will vote for the Constitutional amendment as proposed. Legislation would detail how the commission was appointed and would require equal numbers of appointments from each political party and would include citizens, and a geographer, economist, and sociologist who are employed by a public university of Virginia. None could be an elected official in Virginia.
