Sea Bright Borough Council

BOROUGH COUNCIL – Full Term – Vote for Two Sea Bright is governed under the Borough form of New Jersey municipal government. The governing body consists of a Mayor and a Borough Council comprising six council members, with all positions elected at-large on a partisan basis as part of the November general election. A Mayor is elected directly by the voters to a four-year term of office. The Borough Council consists of six members elected to serve three-year terms on a staggered basis, with two seats coming up for election each year in a three-year cycle. The Borough form of government used by Sea Bright is a "weak mayor / strong council" government in which council members act as the legislative body with the mayor presiding at meetings and voting only in the event of a tie. The mayor can veto ordinances subject to an override by a two-thirds majority vote of the council. The mayor makes committee and liaison assignments for council members, and most appointments are made by the mayor with the advice and consent of the council.

Challenges I want to take on include:

I want to keep taxes as low as possible! Let's keep finding new revenues to minimize impact on tax payers. Let's focus on sharing government services with neighboring towns and conduct operational audit to cut wasteful spending.

A residents first traffic policy. Further conduct traffic studies to help adjust traffic patterns and even more safety so our residents needs are put first!

Flood mitigation and prevention. I understand how much this affects the live of the residents in Sea Bright and want to make sure we prioritize flood prevention. We need to make sure new developers help pay the bill for this cost.

I want to bring a positive impact to Sea Bright for future generations to come. I believe that listening to others in our community is key. Let’s make life easier for Sea Bright residents by keeping what works.

I have a Blue-Collar work ethic with a family owned small business background. I have been in the construction industry for over 15 years and love the challenges that come from it. Those who have met me understand that my passion for life is something that was instilled within me from a young age by my parents. I understand respect, honor, and having pride in what I do. There’s no place in this town for pitting community members against each other. I want to continue progressing with Sea Bright values in mind.
1. Flooding (More Frequent than in the Past): There are many recommendations that have been raised and I would make this a focus item to best understand the options and obstacles. 2. Parking: While all Seasonal Communities struggle with demand, we have lost parking spaces and need to revisit all the options and latest actions taken by our neighboring towns. 3. Infrastructure: it has been long discussed that Sewers and Water Delivery System need attention. I will spearhead progress based on the recommendations that were shared in the past. 4. Communications within the Community: Best practices can foster reaching a greater percentage of the Community.

To each issue there are quick Wins and Complicated strategies. I will lobby to accept the Quick Wins and Work to simplify the Complicated strategies. All in all, there should be a list of priorities that the Community understands and agrees to and then we all work together to bring them to fruition.

I have ideas on how to improve accessibility to Healthcare, Social Interaction, Education, Employment, and the Environment and continue to explore methods to deploy. Most importantly I want to increase the involvement of the Community, and establish opportunity to work with the young people in our community. I did participate in NYC as a Leader for Project Business and taught in the NYC Public School System as sponsored by my Employer and the School system. It was very rewarding for me and the students. I believe we can involve the youth of our Community and keep them engaged in meaningful interaction with their Community. I had raised that as an interest in Sea Bright, but will need to work harder at making it part of our fabric.....
