Qualifications My 17+ years of service on the McG Board, my 25+ years of engineering/executive management and my education have prepared me well for the challenges we face as a district moving forward.
Party of Registration Republican
My motivation for seeking re-election to the McG School Board is the success of the children of the district. That was my motivation 17+ years ago and it is still my motivation today. We need to do the best job we can as an administration with the limited resources available from the tax payers to supply the best possible educational opportunities to the children of the district. This sometimes requires trade-offs and compromise, but as long as we always keep the best interest of the children in mind we will continue to move forward as a district and community.
The strengths of our district are many and varied. We have a seasoned board that works well with our veteran administrative staff. Creative, dedicated teachers lead some of the brightest and hardest working students in the country here @ McG. Our proud parents and community unselfishly sacrifice daily to make sure our students have every opportunity to excel.

All that being said, I believe our scores on state mandated standardized tests could be improved. I commend the administration and teaching staff for realizing that "teaching to the test" is not the answer to better test scores. While that approach would most certainly lead to better scores, it would do a disservice to our students and their overall education. We must continue to be nimble and adjust our approach according to what is working and, more importantly, what is not, all the while, staying within the means of our tax base and community.

After being asked for several years and many hours of prayerful consideration, I have decided to seek this office because I see the need for positive change within the district and the school board. I look forward to the opportunity to serve my home school district and give back to a school and community that gave so much to me in my formative years.
McGuffey School District is a strong community whose residents truly value education, as well as the individual schools within the district. We are also a community who values the system of representation upon which our country was founded. There is a desperate need for an open forum for a positive exchange of ideas and opinions among McGuffey residents. This is even more important for school board members, who are to represent district residents. The district needs to foster and support open communication with its residents.

I send my children to the district I was born, raised and worked in during my lifetime. I have seen first hand the employee turnover the district has had over the past five to ten years and too many good teachers, administrators and support staff have left the district. It's time for the district to get back to our roots and retain good employees and hire individuals based on merit, commitment to the district and dedication to our students. My priorities our to the students and giving the teachers the abilities needed to properly educate our students while keeping in line with the best interests of the tax payers.
I feel the strengths of our district are the teachers and the administration in our elementary, middle and high schools. I think improvement is needed in Central Office and communication from Central Office to the tax payers. Too much micromanagement from Central Office and we need to entrust our principals and teachers to educate our students. I also think improvement is needed when spending tax payers dollars. Wasteful spending on unnecessary training and travel needs eliminated.
