Qualifications I am retired from the federal government, having worked for 35 years as a manager. I handled finances, hiring and evaluating employees and supervising many projects. This experience has helped me in my role as a board member.
I, along with my husband, 2 daughters and a grandson are all graduates of Charleroi School District and I still have 3 other grandchildren who are students there now. I want our school and education to be the best it can be and to be a fun place for the children and a fun place to work for our employees. After 15 years, I still feel I can contribute to this district and see many more projects to completion.
The strength of our school district is the personnel, the administration and school board members who work well together. We all have the same vision: The well-being and education of all our students. Our school can compete educationally with the larger, richer school districts in the state, so we are doing a great job. We have a great team, The only improvement we need involves more funds. We secure many grants each year to enhance our education programs and our security but we could always do more if we had a larger tax base.

Qualifications Public school teacher (37 yrs); Recipient of Anne Sullivan Award for dedicated service to Education; CASD Board Member (16 yrs); Chairman of Personnel/Curriculum/Instruction Committee; CASD representative to SHASDA; CASD Alternate to MVCTC; Attendee @ numerous PASBA (school board) workshops & conferences
Ever since high school, I have envisioned being a part of the education of children. At the age of seventeen, I pursued a degree in education, specifically teaching students with learning disabilities. For thirty-seven years, I was provided the opportunity to influence and instruct students to reach their highest academic potential. Pursuing a seat on the Charleroi ASD board affords me the chance to continue to have a positive impact on the education of all district students.
Many positive attributes exist within the Charleroi ASD. The district possess quality leadership that works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and stakeholders. District leaders and the school board advocate for low student-teacher ratios. Our faculty is open to curriculum modifications, resources, and utilizing testing data to assist in providing our students with a strong foundation for academic achievement. Upgrading technology and incorporating a STEM program are contributing to our students becoming 21st century learners. Improvements to campus security are providing a safer learning environment. Due to the fact that our district's major weakness is a shrinking tax base, we must be prudent in our decision-making. Ongoing budget planning, securing grants, and receiving increases in state reimbursements will be necessary for the continuance of providing a quality education for all.
