Beth Center School District, Region III

Boards of School Directors are the governing agencies for local school districts. They have the responsibility for planning, setting policy, and evaluating school operations. They may levy taxes, issue bonds, hire personnel, provide for school buildings, and purchase textbooks and supplies. They adopt rules and regulations to govern their own affairs and the conduct of employees.

Having children in the district, I am a vested stakeholder in the success of the district. Beth-Center School District has recently gone through several changes at the Administrative level and I feel that we are now ready to start moving forward with positive changes to help improve all facets of the district's functions. I want to provide support to the new administration as they implement and move forward with their vision of the district. We have seen many positive changes over the past year but there is still a lot of work to be done. The current administration inherited a financial situation that they recently brought to light and have started putting a plan in place to help the district recover. I want to hold the current Administration accountable for their actions and to encourage their continued transparency. I would hope to work with the entire board as we strive to continue improving Beth Center School District for to sake of all the children of the district.
The pride and passion of the district stakeholders - faculty, staff, students, families - is one of Beth Center's strengths. There is an unmatched loyalty here that I have not seen elsewhere. The much needed building improvements in the final stages of completion have brought a safer environment for everyone. There have been improvements with communication over the past year as well as more transparency in the business office. We are still in need of an overhaul of our curriculum which has begun but needs to continue to full implementation. We must continue to bring new educational opportunities to our students that will help them succeed in their chosen path following graduation. Another definite concern is to continue looking for ways to bring the district out of it's current financial bind. These are just a few of the many issues we are faced with but I feel that a strong board coupled with the district's Administration will continue to bring positive changes to the district.
