Education BSME
Qualifications Incumbent since 2012 when appointed by Judge Bell. Have attended Board meetings regularly for ten+ years prior to being on the board and am well-informed on the issues facing Ringgold. I regularly attend state School Director Conferences and represent Ringgold on other school related organizations. I have two children that graduated from the district. I recently retired from Bettis Laboratory where I held a DOE security clearance, and my taxes are paid.
My motivation for seeking this office has always been my desire to help students achieve their potential. It is my belief that Ringgold students are just as capable as those of any other district of success. I am willing to devote my time and talent to see that students can achieve whatever goals they set for themselves. I would like to see Ringgold be regarded as among the best School Districts in this region. As a Ringgold Director, I hope to be instrumental in developing the core values, mission, vision, and comprehensive plan for the District. We must provide our administration with the tools and personnel necessary to achieve the goals of the District, in areas such as academic performance, character development, facility improvement, and rigorous curriculum. At the same time, we must be aware of budgetary limitations and be mindful stewards of taxpayer money.
Ringgold has a nationally-recognized security program, has worked hard to upgrade facilities, and has shown first-rate financial management in recent years. Ringgold also has a strong sense of community. We want to help each other. The area where we need the most improvement is that we must be willing to accept change where it is appropriate. We cannot continue to do things in the same way and expect results to improve. We need to expect excellence and do away with the good-old-boy behaviors of the past. We've made an effort recently to improve communication with stakeholders. As a result, some things are changing in the District. Change is hard, but I think the changes we are making will be worth it in the long run. One thing I can guarantee you: I work tirelessly for your kids. I will not stop working until I see Ringgold ranked with the top School Districts in Western PA. My door is always open, so please, if you have a concern, let me know.
