We need to hire more school psychologist to help identify students dealing with mental health issues. I feel our teachers who see the students everyday also need to have some sort of training on how to spot students that are struggling with issues so they can be referred on for help from the school psychologist. I also feel that our district needs to make our families and students aware of resources that are available.
Yes and yes. I think with today's changing world the more kids can learn the better off they will be so if we are able to provide preschool for all students in our district it will help them in the long run. As far as moving the 6th grade to the middle school, I think it is a great idea. Students in the 6th grade are so much more advanced now days and moving them out of the grade school and spending 3 years in middle school will help them transition to high school.
I believe students that are in private or home schools have a right to participate in school activities, but there should be some sort of fee for the activity/sport for the students and they must be eligible in other classes to be able to participate in USD 428 activities.
I think it should be taught but then let each student decide for themselves how they feel and believe.
