Experience (300 characters max) I have spent over 40 years in the printing industry including 22 years as owner of Printing Arts Center here in Longview. I currently serve as board chair at Twin City Bank & have served in a number of nonprofit board positions.
I currently serve as commissioner representing position 3. I feel that I bring a special perspective to the commission serving on behalf of the community. I would like to continue in this position.
1. Maintaining strong financial position supporting well paying jobs and providing economic stimulus. 2. Continuing to build infrastructure - especially expanding the rail corridor. 3. Support environmental remediation and wetland restoration.
1. Secure a strong, responsible tenant for berth #4. Expand exports with existing clients. 2. Explore bonding options as well as major grant opportunities. 3. Encourage staff to continue efforts to repair decades of environmental neglect.
The Port should set an example for responsible industrial activity resulting in inconsequential environmental impact.
The main impact of changing climate at the Port of Longview centers on the Columbia River. River levels and siltation could be a major concern.
I believe that I am uniquely qualified for the position based on my over 40 years of business experience. This experience brings a valuable balance to the current commission. I have served well for over 7 months.
