Maintaining a high level of services while staying under the NYS Property Tax Cap requires collaboration with my Town Board colleagues; hard work and dedication among our department heads and staff and a commitment to long term planning. Since becoming Supervisor in January 2014, we've increased fund balances; maintained the coveted AAA bond rating; improved services and maintained our facilities and physical assets.
Few municipalities our size have an affordable housing corporation (Blue Mountain) to create affordable housing. We were among the first to adopt the Model Housing Law. We partnered with Antioch Baptist Church to create 12 affordable housing units (completion this fall); the Town contributed land, secured a $400,000+ NYS grant and waived taxes for 25 years. Blue Mountain loaned over $90,000 to the project. This is but one example of our tireless efforts to create fair & affordable housing.
