The key thing is an attitude to seek improvements that will protect the town's future quality of life... stable taxes; protecting water and air supplies; expansion of sewage districts; creating a walkable town making homes more attractive to new buyers; preserving and upgrading our parks, library, and open spaces; improving town technology; increasing grant money; and doing all of this under the constraints of the tax cap. The key is to always look forward, and to consistently seek town upgrades
I'm for it because it can create a true sense of "community." While I've been on the town board, Somers has increased its supply of affordable housing by about 200 units. This allows a person to be part of Somers for their lifetime: to attend Somers schools K-12, go away to college, return to a first affordable apartment, perhaps to then buy a house in town and raise a family, and when the house is no longer needed, to move to a senior affordable housing situation... a Somers "circle of life."
