I am a defense attorney for 20 years representing the indigent. I am presently a Judge in the City of Peekskill where I preside over a large calendar including criminal matters. A County Court Judge's purview are criminal cases. In that regard I have had many hours yearly training with Supreme Court and County Court judges.I believe in restorative justice--it affords victims and the accused the chance to heal and ultimately contribute to our society. My 4 children are my joy and inspiration.

I am a lifelong resident of Westchester County. My experience as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, civil attorney & municipal attorney makes me uniquely qualified for the position of County Court Judge. No other candidate has the breadth of courtroom experience that I have. My goal is to provide efficient, impartial and equal access to the judicial system. I will treat each litigant as an individual and with respect regardless of race, ethnicity, religious belief, or sexual orientation.

My three decades of public service litigating felonies such as robberies, burglaries, kidnappings and homicides in Westchester County have given me the legal insight, knowledge and experience to address the diverse and complex issues that come before the Court. I have also participated in the long overdue reform of the Criminal Justice System, in the areas of bail reform, Raise the Age and Mental Health, recognizing that criminal convictions have lifelong consequences. Rated 100% pro choice.

Judge Michael Tawil is committed to effective and equal access to justice for all, not just a few, in Westchester County. His judicial philosophy calls for all litigants to be treated with respect and dignity and have a full and fair opportunity to be heard and have their case considered fully on the merits. Currently the only elected judge among the County Court candidates; Judge Tawil won his second term to the Ossining Town Court 4 years ago.
