After MUCH citizen feedback, I would rank the top 3 as 1) Continue to build upon the efforts that have been made to improve communication with the Town's residents and taxpayers so that our community feels not just informed, but also included in the decisions that Town Council is making. 2) Ensure specific and measurable progress on redevelopment efforts of the Blazier Drive and Southern McCandless areas as detailed in the 10 year plan. I'd like to consider the heart of Ingomar in this as well. 3) Build the connectivity network with more sidewalks and alternate modes of transportation.
Although I am very proud of the efforts of myself, other Environmental Advisory Committee members and the Town members for recently obtaining our High Gold ranking as a Sustainable PA Community, the one area in which McCandless received almost no points was regarding efforts to ensure diversity in its administration and actively prohibiting discrimination. I would pursue recommendations to actively reach out to a wider range of job candidates, include formal diversity assessments, reporting and training. Also, I will initiate more community events to celebrate diversity and build community.
I greatly respect those of us that choose to serve our community by being on the police force. Several members of my family serve(d) in law enforcement. It is important that our law enforcement feels supported. Equally, it is important that our citizens truly feel protected & served. Trust is critical. I would support a citizen advisory board, safe reporting and build upon efforts to connect our police with our citizens through social programs that build upon those like "Donuts with Cops."
