What are your qualifications and experience for this position?

What actions will you take to achieve your goals for the Democratic Party in Midland?

I am an educator and community organizer. I have taught in Texas public schools for 10 years, and for five years at the college level. Locally, I’m the primary organizer for Suit Up! Permian Basin, a progressive grassroots community that educates and engages voters on the issues.
Currently, voter engagement among young people and wage earners is a fundamental challenge in Midland County, and so I have made that the focus of my campaign. As Democratic Chairperson, I will ensure that every eligible Democratic voter in the county is registered to vote at his or her current address. In addition, I want to build on the work done by our previous chairman on increasing voter registration among new and younger Democratic voters. Lastly, I want to see the Party do more work of training and building up local leaders to run for office. This election cycle we’ve seen a twofold increase in the number of Democrats running for office. In the next election cycle, I’d like to see it double again.
I was born in Midland and have lived and/or worked here for over 50 years. I have worked at Midland Memorial Hospital, Glenwood Hospital, and We Care Home Health Agency. I am employed at MMH in the Emergency Department. I understand party politics and I understand Midland. I am Precinct 307 Chair. I worked in the Bella Abzug and Bill Dingus campaigns. I served on Governor Ann Richards Executive Leadership Council for 4 years.
The most important action should be the "Get Out the Vote Campaign." To do this we must continue the work done by the current Midland Democratic Party Executive Committee to recruit and install Precinct Chairs who will make themselves known to their constituents and gain their support in getting out the vote.
