I support online voter registration provided that voter information can be protected from hackers, and urge repeal of the Voter ID law so that eligible citizens who register to vote are not required to prove their identity with a specific photo identification or under threat of criminal prosecution.
Background checks to identify ineligible purchasers at gun shows, banning sales of automatic weapons, and requiring that long guns and handguns must be kept in locked boxes and cabinets are three measures I support that are currently proposed as effective ways to reduce gun violence.
I support a process that removes elected officials, whether legislators or executive branch officials, from control over drawing district lines, keeps population numbers even among districts, utilizes existing county and city boundaries to define district boundaries to the extent possible and prohibits lightning bolts.
I would propose and support legislation that requires the State of Texas to contribute 50% of the cost of public school education and ensures distribution of sufficient funds for adequate quality of facilities and instruction in every public school district based on the proven needs of district students.
Providing incentives for rainwater harvesting and rooftop solar power on a commercial and community scale; increasing local authority to regulate aquifers through a system of regions based on aquifer boundaries; establishing a network of charging stations to facilitate the switch to electric vehicles; and expanding underground storage of treated municipal water supplies are among my legislative priorities. The legislature should fund planning to reduce water use, waste and mining of aquifers.
Without federal assistance due to the ban on Medicaid expansion, Texas can bring healthcare to all Texans at the county level by establishing clinics in rural areas and urban neighborhoods to provide basic healthcare services financed with county funds that now pay for-profit hospitals for indigent care.
Authorization for county governments to regulate land use in rural counties is necessary to prevent destructive and polluting activities and to promote conservation of open spaces, watershed protection and wildlife preservation.

I support increasing the number of days for early voting. I would also like to see and expansion of the mail in ballot system. We should also study ways to offer safe and secure internet voting.
One, I would support enhanced background checks and ways to ensure that all state and federal agencies are reporting accurately. Two, I support banning certain assault style weapons. Three, I support closing the gun show loop hole, requiring that all gun sales are recorded.
I support drawing districts based on a community focus approach. This ensures that representatives know who they represent, not party affiliation. Rural towns shouldn’t be grouped with Cities to dilute minority ideas or voters.
I would increase State funding for education, combined with a proposed $.05 cents per gallon increase to the gasoline tax, with all funds going to public education. I would also propose an increase to the amount of funds local school districts could raise from bonds.
First, I would propose a bill protecting Texas rivers and lakes from commercial and industrial pollution, including gravel pits, quarries and other industries state wide, providing protections in currently unincorporated areas of the state. Second, I would propose tax incentives for businesses that produce renewable energy, focusing on local utilities, and incentives for businesses that use more than 50% or their power from renewable sources.
I would support a bill (proposed in 2017), that would remove the regulatory barriers to full practice by advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), which would increase access to healthcare in Texas. Additionally, I would encourage Healthcare providers to offer more affordable healthcare plans.
Protecting Planned Parenthood from having state funding removed or reduced. And ensuring that all Texans have access to family planning and healthcare services. I would propose bills that would increase funds for existing Planned Parenthood centers and discontinue funding for non-effective abstinence only programs.
