Battle Ground School District NO. 119 Proposition 3

The Board of Directors of Battle Ground School District No. 119 adopted Resolution No. L-17, concerning a proposition to relieve overcrowding and improve infrastructure and safety. This proposition would authorize the District to: construct a new primary and middle school; replace Glenwood Heights, Laurin and both Pleasant Valley Schools; replace select Prairie High buildings; renovate Amboy Gymnasium and 300 Building; develop an Alternative Learning Experience campus; make safety, technology, educational, athletic and infrastructure improvements; issue no more than $224,895,000 of general obligation bonds maturing within 21 years; and levy annual excess property taxes to repay the bonds, all as provided in Resolution No. L-17. Explanatory StatementAuthorizes Battle Ground School District to issue $224,895,000 of bonds to construct a new primary and middle school; replace Glenwood Heights, Laurin and both Pleasant Valley Schools; replace select Prairie High buildings; renovate Amboy Gymnasium and 300 Building; develop an Alternative Learning Experience campus; make safety, technology, educational, athletic and infrastructure improvements. The bonds will be repaid from annual excess property taxes over 21 years at an estimated tax rate of $0.94 per $1,000 of assessed value, or $282.00 per year for a $300,000 home. When combined with State changes, the 2019 total schools tax rate is projected to decrease.
