In District 142 we are affected by: 1. Lack of employment 2. 2nd chance programs 3. Education

I would address these issues by directly working with hiring entities in the district and holding job fairs to make sure people are properly trained to receive quality pay. For those that are getting out of the penal system we would allow them to have jobs lined up so that they can provide for their families. Without these types of chances those coming out of the system will be unable to provide and eventually turn back to their life of crime. For the last 10 yrs the current legislator has had years of passing legislation directly affecting schools in the district. I would work with administration and create programs that focuses more on academics and strengthening areas were kids may be weak. I would also want to work with teachers and work on increasing teachers pay in order to get cream of the crop teachers.

I will also work to pass laws in order to make it mandatory to for teachers to have proper certification to teach students.
More public education/outreach on human trafficking. State Legislators should send bills to the governor's desk would require tougher laws to be created. The main offenders are truck drivers, they would receive training on the issue and mandate new places from strip clubs to abortion clinics to hospital emergency rooms that must post signs aimed at reaching potential trafficking victims.

The biggest issues are public education, criminal justice, housing. To improve education at the campuses in District, I will stay on HISD to treat this side of town equally. Criminal justice requires me to change laws that are themselves discriminatory. To improve housing in the area requires me to work with many groups to make the tax credits for building houses work for our benefit.
I will force HISD to provide a quality education to children in northeast Houston.
It is our responsibili9ty to do everything in favor of stopping human trafficking including providing money for law enforcement and education.
