I have 10 years of Law Enforcement experience, for 7 of those 10 years I have been a supervisor ranging from Sergeant to interim Chief of Police. In the Policing profession this is extremely rare, but I believe that it is a testament to my level of commitment to hard work, dedication to professional development and leadership capabilities. Leading the Constable Office would not be so different and I those listed character traits will have a positive impact on the Constables who will serve in the Office.
One area of concern is the lack of public safety that is exercised at Precinct 1 and the lack of officer safety required to be used by the deputies. I would push for tighter safety & security measures at the office in Dallas as well as the office in Lancaster. Right now civilians can walk into the office and have direct access to the employees. There are no security vestibules, security cameras, or controlled access points at the facilities. I value the safety and security for not only the general public but my staff as well. Also, Deputy Constable currently do not notify the municipality dispatch that they are working in their area, Precinct One covers 6 different cities. The lack of notification to other Police agencies is a major conce
The most pressing issue that I’ve observed is lack of knowledge that the community has regarding the role of the Constables Office. The Constables Office can and could be a staple in the community if operated properly. My vision is open the doors to the Constable Office and become more community oriented. I, plan to educate all constituents as to who the Constables are and their roles. Once the community understands who we are I think they will have a better idea of what they would like to see from us and how we can best serve them.

I am currently the Dallas County Constable for Precinct 1, elected in the March 2016 Democratic Primary. My twenty years of experience with the Constable's office uniquely qualifies me to serve as Constable for Precinct 1. Although it was not easy, I ascended through the ranks of leadership in the Constable's office, exceeding all expectations and mastering every mandatory level of achievement. I advanced to the top rank of Chief Deputy before being elected as Constable in 2016. I have gained the trust and respect of my peers throughout Dallas County, my partners in leadership in Precinct 1, and my community.
One change that I have made with the Constable's office is to have the first Monday of each month designated as a Night Court. Whereas, the court stays open until 8:00 p.m. to accommodate the working citizens of the community.
As of now our top priority would be for the safety of our officers. After the massive shooting of the police officers in Dallas, this has become a wide spread concern for all police departments. Purchasing of body cams as well as ballistic vests that could support a riffle round is much needed but yet a concern that needs to be discussed with our budget department.
