It is my great honor to serve as a Justice on the First Court of Appeals. I grew up in Houston and attended Princeton and Harvard Law. I spent two years clerking for appellate judges, then built a fulfilling appellate and trial private practice.
We should take every opportunity to use scientific advancements to improve efficiency and accuracy. The Legislature should pass good laws, skilled attorneys should represent indigent defendants, and hard-working judges should faithfully apply the law and issue prompt rulings.
My greatest responsibilities are to uphold my oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and to faithfully apply the law in every case before me. Each case is worthy of my time and respect. I will study the law, briefs, and record. I will engage with the issues. I will be well-informed, diligent, and fair. And I will faithfully apply the law as it is written.
