Education St. Mary's Univ. School of Law J.D. 1992; Texas A&M University Commerce B.S. 1983; Univ. of Texas Law School two semesters while interning for Texas Supreme Court Justice and Texas Criminal Appeals Judge 1991; Samuel Clemens High School graduate
Incumbent Justice Texas Fourth Court of Appeals nine years; authored over one thousand opinions, over twenty-five years of civil and criminal legal experience; Asst. U.S. Attorney, private/corporate counsel and attorney for state and federal judges.
Texas Access to Justice and local Community Justice Programs have increased funding through grants and contributions to provide representation to the poor--in family, probate, and criminal cases. Indigent defense through non-profit organizations has dramatically increase in parental termination and immigration cases in county, district, appellate, federal courts recently.
My highest priority is to know and apply the law equally to everyone without legislating from the bench and while demonstrating excellent, proven judicial temperament as I uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States of America and the State of Texas. My strong work ethic, values, love of family and country help me everyday to accomplish this goal. I love my job!
