I currently serve as your Justice on the 13th Court of Appeals. Over the last six years, I have authored over 500 opinions and have managed my docket well. Before taking the bench, I practiced law for over 20 years in all areas of the law.
Indigent defense primarily applies to criminal cases. Access to justice is afforded those individuals who cannot afford legal representation by providing appointed counsel. Various counties have implemented stricter standards for the qualifications of defense counsel appointed which will no doubt improve access to justice on appeal.
My highest priority is to provide the fair and unbiased adjudication of the cases brought before the Court. This involves thoroughly examining the transcripts, evidence, and points of law in order to ascertain if error occurred in the proceeding. This must be done timely. Opinions rendered must be well written and correctly interpret the law.
