As a result of input from residents during door to door, our focus for the future will be Reform & Accountability; Economic Opportunity; and Environmental Sustainability. Our plan is to provide the public better access to the Legislature and their meetings by scheduling meetings in evening, by live streaming, rather than the daytime meetings currently which most cannot attend, looking at possible term limits for county legislators and establishing town hall meetings. In the area of Economic Opportunity looking at a living wage for County Employees and Contractors as well as reforming the County IDA. And under Sustainability, trying to get the plan that has been on the shelf on the county website for years off the shelf to tailor it to evaluate it, and to establish a viable plan for the future.
Breaking cycles of poverty will not be accomplished quickly or easily but with educational opportunities for the jobs of today, providing transportation to the jobs of today and increasing the jobs and There are currently county RFP's out for agencies working to help change the numbers of those in poverty. The hope is that these agencies will be able to do more with the funds that will be provided..We support job creation and workforce development programs which are crucial to providing the means to climb out of poverty. Continuing to push for businesses to locate here in Onondaga County and to hire local residents. The county currently provides safety net services for those in need which we will continue to do always with an eye towards providing the tools for those in need to move up..
