Skagit Fire District 16 Proposition 1

The Board of Fire Commissioners of Skagit County Fire Protection District No. 16 adopted Resolution No. 300 concerning this proposition for bonds. This proposition would authorize the District to plan and upgrade fire tender equipment of the District and provide funds for the maintenance of the District fleet; to issue $200,000 of general obligation bonds maturing within a maximum of twenty years, and to collect excess property taxes annually to repay the bonds, as provided in Resolution No. 300.Explanatory statement: Passage of Proposition No. 1 will authorize Skagit County Fire Protection District No. 16, Skagit County to borrow $200,000 by issuing general obligation bonds. In accordance with Resolution No. 300 approving this proposition, the bonds will pay for the maintenance of the District fleet, the upgrade of fire tender equipment and other fire and life safety purposes and making necessary capital improvements to the facilities of the District. Capital projects are expected to include the upgrade of fire tender equipment and other fire and life safety equipment of the District and maintain the readiness of the District fleet. The bonds would be repaid out of annual property tax levies over a maximum period of 20 years. The levy rate is estimated to be $.24 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation, costing the typical homeowner ($ 250,000 home) $_5_ per month or $_60__ per year.
