Whatcom County Columbia Valley Park & Recreation District Proposition 2017-2
The Board of Commissioners of Columbia Valley Park and Recreation District, Whatcom County, Washington, adopted Resolution No. 01-2017 authorizing a regular property tax levy of $0.60 or less per $1,000.00. This Proposition would authorize the District to establish and maintain its regular property tax levy of $0.60 or less per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation for collection in 2018 through 2023 subject to any otherwise applicable statutory dollar rate limitations. Should this proposition be approved?Explanatory StatementThis measure establishes a six (6) year regular property tax levy rate for the new Columbia Valley Park and Recreation District. This levy will be the primary source of funding for services to be provided by the District. Because the District was recently formed by voters, it has no funding. Passage of Proposition 2017-2 establishes a levy rate of $0.60 or less per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation for a six (6) year period as otherwise authorized by law. Voter approval of Proposition 2017-2 will allow the District to begin constructing and maintaining parks within the District’s boundaries.
