Chagrin Falls Charter Amendment re recall elections

Issue 16 on the ballot. Ballot language: Shall Article X, Section 2 of the Charter of the Village of Chagrin Falls be amended to provide that any special recall election of any elected official of the Village shall be held not less than sixty (60) nor more than ninety (90) days after the date of delivery of notice to the officer of a sufficient recall petition calling for his or her removal from office?A majority affirmative vote is required for passage.A YES vote approves the charter amendment.A NO vote opposes the charter amendment.LEAGUE EXPLANATION: The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections has asked the Village of Chagrin Falls and several other communities in the county to amend their recall petition filing deadlines. The Board seeks to bring these communities into uniformity with other municipalities in the county so the Board can meet federal requirements for preparing and mailing overseas and military ballots and so it can prepare for early voting, which begins 28 days before an election.

Pro and Con Arguments For and Against the Measure

This charter amendment was requested by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections to bring Chagrin Falls filing deadlines into line with other municipalities in the county.
This amendment increases the time between the filing of a recall petition and its submission to voters. But it makes voting abroad--and early at home--easier for all voters in the county and for the Board of Elections.
