Pro and Con Arguments For and Against the Measure

The city's charter review commission wants this change. The commission wished to clarify that uncompensated elective officeholders, such as party precinct committee persons, as well as public employees (of any public entity) who do not fall within the control of Council, could also be qualified to serve as Brooklyn council members. The commission also wished to eliminate any ambiguity involving the terms “office” and “position.”
No con arguments are known to the League.
