Judge, Cleveland Municipal Court, January 1, 2000 to the present.
I was a Cleveland City Councilman from 1996 until 2000. I am very mindful of the impact my judicial decisions maker not just on the individual but on the entire community. I was also a private practitioner for the first eighteen years of my legal career. This gave me the opportunity to appreciate the magnitude of the decisions made by the Court and effect of the practices of Court staff on parties and witnesses before the Court. My undergraduate degree is in Social Work and my experience as a teaching assistant in the Positive Education Program have been invaluable in shaping my skills, compassion and sense of fairness.
I am running to retain my current seat with the Cleveland Municipal Court. All Courts are at a challenging time. Our Court has been quite proactive in taking on these challenges. We are at the forefront of efforts in numerous issues including bail reform, access to justice, information technology and interpretive services. Many innovative programs are in various stages and if reelected I will have the opportunity to continue to shepherd these and other advancements and reforms.
