Town where you live La Center
Experience (300 characters max) First time running for public office.
Development at the I-5 junction while still maintaining a viable downtown. Finding funding to replace lost card room revenues.
The city uses available resources to reach out to the homeless and direct them to available help.
There are several services in the community available for senior citizens such as Meals On Wheels.
I have limited experience in this field. My approach would be, Follow Federal Law.
Attracting more businesses! We need some "roof-tops", but we need a stronger commercial tax base.
The development of THE I-5 JUNCTION!
Communication, communication, communication!

Town where you live La Center
Experience (300 characters max) At present there is no one on the council to give a voice to the challenges and struggles facing young families. I will be that voice. I will draw upon my experience working in electrical engineering, contract management, and as a manager of various engineering organizations spanning over 10 years
The issues surrounding La Center infrastructure are likely the same as issues impacting all small but growing communities. There are multiple housing developments in construction in a community that is experiencing large growth. The issue of traffic is most noticeable now while the main road in and out of town is experiencing up to 20 minute delays stemming from construction. We are pleased to see construction taking place but this is shining a light on what will likely be a major issue if population continues to grow and road improvements, repairs, and advances are not made.
Homelessness has not historically been a major issue in the city of La Center. I believe La Center could respond to potential homelessness with compassion and treat those affected with dignity and respect. There are several institutions within our county that can offer assistance to families experiencing the loss of a job or for one reason or another, dealing with the incredible difficulty of homelessness. I believe we could work with local organizations to connect those in need with the assistance they seek.
My commitment to senior citizens is the same as my commitment to young families, singles, and anyone else. La Center has been and continues to be a great place to retire as well as raise a young family. It is my commitment to represent all residents of La Center with the same level of commitment. Diversity is among several attributes that make our community the amazing place to live that it continues to be.
Immigration has not historically been a major issue in La Center. Issues stemming from immigration have not, in my opinion, been among the most prevalent affecting day to day life within the city.
The city’s revenue, coupled with immense population growth, is likely to be the most important issue to address moving forward. As revenue streams have changed, due to the addition of a major casino in the area, La Center will need to diversify the city’s income by means of spurring new business and relying less on the historical income from local casinos within the city. While the city has high hopes of new business at the Interstate 5 interchange, we may be forced to actively attract business growth.
Changes to the City’s budget and income are the most urgent of issues facing residents of La Center. It is my hope that budget cuts are the absolute last resort to solving budgetary shortcomings but if the local tax base cannot be raised through new business and other revenue streams, cuts will be unavoidable. We have relied upon the local card rooms for a long time but this is not likely to be an option with the addition of the new Cowlitz casino.
I am willing and able to use all tools at my disposal to work with the mayor to continue the long legacy of La Center being a tremendous community to live in. It is my goal to work closely with the mayor on issues affecting the citizens of La Center and to vote my conscience on all discussions put to vote. I know we may not always agree on the best path forward but I do know that we all love this community and want the best for its residents.
