Benton Kennewick Public Hospital District Commissioner Pos. 2

6-year term; No salaryA small reimbursement for expenses of evening meetings may be offered. Public Hospital District is responsible for the policies and quality of care provided at public hospitals throughout the service area. The commission sets the general policies of the district, which are implemented by the hired professional district administrator and hospital medical staff and personnel. One of commission's main duties is the adoption of the district's budget and proposal of any hospital levies to be placed on the ballot to the people. The commission sets policies and approves all spending via the budget, whether for operations or capital items or public facility maintenance and improvements. The council also sets salaries for district employees.

While serving as a community member on the Trios Finance and Planning Committees I recognized the complexities and challenges facing the healthcare industry. I am aware of the effort that is needed to assure that the hospital remains as a strong healthcare provider for the community. We (the board and staff) are working on a strong plan that will bring together a healthcare system to provide excellent care in a wide variety of specialties.
1. Financial 2. Health care providers 3. Providing comprehensive patient car
All three are important and urgent but if the financial challenges facing the hospital are not resolved then it becomes very difficult to address the other two.
Direct involvement in leading strategic planning, leading business team building programs, business development plans, financial oversight and customer care, This provides me with a strong background to work with others to develop solutions and direction needed to assure the future of the hospital.
